Summary

Chapter 44 – Keene is still depressed from everything he has learned. A year before, Silo 40 had hacked into the communications systems. It was assumed that the hack was accomplished by a rogue IT Head. Termination was enacted, but there was no way to verify. Thurman, Erskine, and Victor were all awakened according to emergency protocol. Anna was awakened to use a radio to activate the collapse mechanisms in other rebellious silos, causing them to self-destruct. In the present, Keene pours over Victor’s comments on the report on Silo 18. The comments include “This is why” and “An end to them all.” Keene wonders if these comments are suicidal or point to something else. Keene also wonders if he might end up dead if he follows Victor’s trail too closely.
