Chapters 3-5 Summary

Prabu remains as Lindsay's guide, showing him the sights and teaching him the customs and language. When they are in a taxi, there is an accident. Prabu panics and drags Lindsay from the vehicle. He later tells him it is the people he feared, not fire, as they watch the crowd begin to beat the taxi driver. They continued their tour in another taxi and on foot until they arrive at the people-market. This is the market where slaves are purchased and Prabu explains that the men standing around are negotiating price. It is a difficult situation for Lindsay to handle, even when Prabu explains that most of the children would die if they weren't sold into slavery. They are victims of natural disasters and catastrophes.
