Section 6: Chapters 13 & 14 Summary

In Chapter 13, Lucian is furious at Seraphina's lies, but after she explains her suspicion that Imlann is the rogue dragon, he agrees to work together. He brushes off her apology for calling him a bastard, insisting that he understands the truth of what she said: "Everyone gawps at you for something you can't help and did nothing to deserve" (page 174). Seraphina squashes her feelings, reminding herself that she will always be a monster. Lucian plans to talk to Eskar about the coin that Orma received.

In Chapter 14, Seraphina has an encounter with Josef during the dress rehearsal and fears that he recognizes her draconian scent. When she meets Orma at the Mallet & Mullet, the owner refuses service because Basind, a dragon, accompanies them.
