Cúcuta

Cúcuta is the city in Colombia where Herminia, Koralia, and Milagros travel for food. Because of their home country's economic devastation, the women are forced to cross the border into neighboring Colobia in search of money and supplies. The story begins with the women's arrival in the city, and traces their afternoon there.

While Koralia and Milagros visit a local Cúcuta salon to sell their hair, Herminia sits in the park and waits with the baby. The women leave Cúcuta that night, with plans to return the following day.
