Chapters 37 and 38 Summary

Katie, Alex and the kids return to Alex's house above the store. Kristen and Alex go over what to give the kids for dinner and what time to put them to bed. Alex says he has to leave in about an hour. When Alex is showering, Katie starts to think about scanning the crowds back at the fair. She realizes she had been searching for Kevin. After his shower, Alex has a sandwich, kisses them all goodbye and leaves. Katie thinks it's going to be a long night.

Kevin stops to buy four more bottles of vodka. With the fair, traffic and barricades, he's been driving around for hours looking for Katie. Everything is blurry because Kevin is drunk. He goes by Katie's cottage but she isn't there. Kevin hears Coffey and Ramirez, his coworkers, in his head laughing at him...
