Chapters 27 and 28 Summary

In the second week of July, Katie gets her driver's license. She and Alex go to dinner that night in Wilmington. Alex says she needs a car. At the end of July, Alex takes a vacation. He spends the lazy days of summer with Katie and the kids. Kristen and Katie have a very close relationship, but Alex can't tell how Josh feels about Katie.

While Katie and Kristen are shopping, Alex takes Josh fishing. Josh asks Alex if he ever thinks about his mother. Alex admits he does and Josh admits he does too. They also talk about Katie thinking Josh is great. Josh says Katie is pretty great too.

Later, Josh asks Katie if she will take him shopping too. Over Chinese takeout, Katie gives Josh a present she bought for him while she and Kristen were shopping at...
