Chapters 21 and 22 Summary

In the weeks following Katie telling Alex her story, they spend as much time together as possible. Sometimes they take the kids and sometimes Joyce forces Alex to leave the kids with her and go out alone. They end up spending more time at Katie's cottage than at Alex's house. Even in all the time they've spent together, they have not made love yet.

Alex thinks about the one time that he has killed a man. The man was strung out on drugs and dangerous. Alex pulled the trigger without any hesitation. Alex also thinks about Carly on her deathbed, telling him that she wants him to find someone who loves him and will make him happy.
