Detective Inspector Liz Kavanaugh

Liz Kavanaugh is thirty-eight years old and was born in Newcastle. She attended a good grammar school, achieved a BSc in Crime and Criminology, and became a graduate entry into the Lothian and Borders Police in a program of Accelerated Promotion for Graduates at the age of twenty-two. By the age of twenty-seven, she had passed the sergeant's exam and at thirty-one, she passed her inspector's exam, getting her promotion to Detective Inspector. The only thing she had yet to accomplish in her mind was to have a life.

Liz is called out to a homicide that turns out to be only one in a series of similar killings, which has her coming face to face with Kemal Aslan, the man whose efforts led to her being removed from the CID team and put in charge of ICIU instead of taking her rightful place as Chief. ...
