UNODIR

UNODIR stands for, Unless Otherwise Directed. This is Richard Marcinko's excuse for going off on his own battle plan and setting up ambushes for the enemy. Unless headquarters has specific orders for Richard, he feels he can fight and patrol wherever he wants to.

SEAL

SEAL stands for Sea Air Land Units and they are one of the top Special Forces units in the U.S. military. Being a SEAL is a step up from being a UDT Frogman and becomes Richard's goal. Richard ends up as commander of SEAL Team Two, SEAL Team Six, and the shadowy unit known as Red Cell, also composed largely of SEALs.
