Chapter 10 Summary

In Chapter ten, everyone is focused on the preparations for the upcoming ball though Ben thinks the preparations are in excess of what's necessary. Ben is even pressed into service and forced to help clean. One evening at dinner, Lord Fredrick says he'd seen Ben earlier in the day. Every time Ben is alone, she sticks her arm into one of the secret entryways and she immediately fears Lord Fredrick saw her. He goes on to say one of the castle's legends is that the ex-rooms were actually "hex rooms" used by witches in centuries past. Lord Fredrick says it's a way of explaining the recent rumors that the castle is haunted. Ben is furious that she hasn't heard any of these rumors. The next morning she talks to a serving maid who says there are lights in the wizard's tower though there...
