Alvin is determined to figure out how to turn his plow into gold. He manages to change it to gold by using his knack, but he wants it to be alive, so that it knows how to be a good plow. Alvin climbs all the way into the forge, wrapping his body around the plow, and works for hours to make it come to life. He saves his own life by healing himself from the burns all over his body.
