Chapter 19, The Plow, Chapter 20, Cavil's Deed, & Chapter 21, Alvin Journeyman Summary

Alvin is determined to figure out how to turn his plow into gold. He manages to change it to gold by using his knack, but he wants it to be alive, so that it knows how to be a good plow. Alvin climbs all the way into the forge, wrapping his body around the plow, and works for hours to make it come to life. He saves his own life by healing himself from the burns all over his body. "Miss Larner" comes into the smithy, and when Alvin shows her his living plow, she is astonished, because now he is truly a Maker.
