Part 3: Chapters 21-24 Summary

Dreams Come True. Catherine settles into her new life as Julian's wife. Christopher comes to visit once, but Catherine feels it necessary to hide this fact from Julian, who would not approve. Carrie visits for the summer when she is fifteen. Julian does not have a problem with Carrie; in fact, he appears to like her a great deal, so this provides a good time for the two sisters. After more than five years of marriage, Catherine and Julian are on vacation in Spain. Their careers have not taken off as they should have, in part because of Julian's difficult behaviors and fickle choices regarding material. Catherine is beginning to feel imprisoned by his controlling ways and his affairs with young girls.
