Point of View

Pandemonium is written in the first person point of view from the perspective of Lena, the novel's heroine. The chapters split into two time periods — "then" and "now." Lena narrates the Now thread with the perspective of also having lived through the Then — in the first person, present tense with lots of flashbacks and reflection. The flashbacks in the Now often precede the Then narrative thread. The Then thread is written in the present tense and with the understanding that at the time of the narration there is no future—so, no allusions to what happens in the Now parts of the chapters.
