Chapter Seven Summary

Chapter Seven, Now

Lena and Julian are still held captive. Lena has counted three days since they turn off the lights at night.

Lena wakes one morning to Julian watching her sleep and running his hands through her hair. This startles Lena and she stays resentful and angry with him throughout the day.

Later, Julian reveals that his father had a secret library to which he found the key. In the library were books that were illegal. Books that talked about emotions and love. Julian for weeks read the books until one day his father caught him. His father beat him and it was after that that he began having seizures.

Julian is taken out by a guard and questioned. He returns, beaten. While he is gone, she inspects the contents of her backpack. Lena discovers that someone has left her...
