Summary

In Chapter 53, as Ambra looked for books of poetry in Kirsch’s library, Winston told her that crowds outside the palace were blaming Valdespino with killing Kirsch. They were suggesting that someone inside the royal family, like Julían, had helped him. It did not help matters that Julían had not yet addressed the press. Winston also warned Langdon and Ambra they needed to hurry because a military plane with Guardia Real agents had just landed in Barcelona.

Meanwhile, in the car, Valdespino was thinking about how he had lured the prince away from the palace with the promise he was taking him to the cottage where Julían had grown up. He wondered if Julían knew he had lied to him.
