Summary

Chapter Twenty-three

In Chapter Twenty-three, the gates of the Hub open automatically for Daniel’s parents’ car. Leni has Daniel hack information into Merrin’s cuff so that she can get clearance through the Hub. When they come to a serum scanner, Merrin knows they can’t get past that point. Leni convinces a skeptical Daniel that Elias would help them. Working together, Daniel and Leni burn out the insides of the scanner. This allows Merrin to pass and gives her time to make her way down the hallway. When the alarm system recognizes it has been compromised and guards begin to appear, Leni and Daniel duck into a closet while Merrin floats up to the ceiling. The ventilation system helps Merrin to drift toward the area where she believes Elias is.
