Chapters 15 and 16 Summary

Chapter 15

Emma misses Galen and Mrs. McIntosh is concerned that they're fighting, something Emma denies. After school, Emma goes swimming. She brought a stopwatch with her and clocks herself as being able to hold her breath for over twenty minutes. Suddenly, she feels a presence. She is frightened and thinks now that Galen's advice to stay on land may have been a good idea. As she walks in the shallow water, she feels a hand grab her ankle. She looks down but the attacker is in blended form. The hand begins pulling her down. She had nothing to be afraid of. It was Toraf.

With Toraf's help, Emma is able to build up her time underwater to twenty-seven minutes. Toraf panics when he notices Emma's wrinkled hands. He fears that Galen will blame him. Finally she is able to convince him...
