Nothing Can Keep Us Together tells the story of a group of privileged high school students on the eve of their graduation from New York prep schools. The book opens with an email "newsletter" from the anonymous Gossip Girl, who talks about the upcoming festivities. She also starts to gossip about the main characters. In this email, Gossip Girl discusses how everyone will need white dresses for graduation, how Blair and Vanessa have become very close friends, and how Nate is now dating Serena, but still seems down in the dumps.
