Alex Burnet returns home to tell her father that the judge ruled against them. The judge ruled that Frank Burnet has no right to his tissues once they leave his body and therefore the university could do anything with his cells that they want. However, Alex promises that she intends to begin the appeal process. A few days later, Frank, Alex, and her partners meet with the lawyers from the university. The meeting is unproductive. When all the lawyers leave, Frank has a conversation with a young man who brought sandwiches to the meeting.
