Erskine

Erskine, a former English soldier, is the Pulvertafts' estate manager. He is not happy with how life has turned out—ending up in a country that is not his own and having his military career destroyed by the loss of his left arm. He doesn't trust the Irish Catholics, although his job brings him into daily contact with them as he supervises their work on the road and collects their rents.
