Chapters 9-11 Summary

In chapter 9, Lucas arrives at the location hinted at by Mail and finds that the local police located an oil barrel. After discussion about what to do, the cops open the barrel and find a body inside. However, the body is only a doll, suggesting to Lucas that the kidnapper is hinting that he killed one of the little girls and placed her in some sort of watery grave. The kidnapper calls as Lucas heads back to the city, joking about what he did. Lucas tries to talk to him, but Mail becomes angry and hangs up. An attempt is made to trace the call, but Mail did not stay on long enough. That night Lucas arranges to have dinner with a friend, Sister Mary Joseph. On the way home, Lucas stops by the offices of his company, Lucas Simulations, to check in and discuss...
