Chapter One Summary

Chapter One opens as Mr. Bronicki is arguing with Annabelle and keeping her from going to her car and going to an appointment with Heath Champion. When she gets to the car, a homeless man is sleeping off his drunk under the Crown Victoria. Annabelle finally gets on the road and realizes that she will be a few minutes late. She has trouble parking but finally makes it. She is nine minutes late. The receptionist refuses to let her into Heath's office. Annabelle claims her one minute and heads into the office. She gets in and after a few comments Heath allows her to remain.

Annabelle notices just how sexy he is. She hadn't planned to notice that at all. She doesn't like overly confident, successful men. She has had to live with three all her life. She calls them over...
