Summary

In Chapter 43, Magnus looks around the crowd, desperate for inspiration. He sees Loki’s wife Sigyn and remembers how she subtly kept Loki from killing them by distracting him at a key moment. He wonders to himself if Loki really does not have anyone he can trust. Perhaps Sigyn subtly undermines him, working to delay Ragnarok. He thinks about how Percy told him his biggest strength came from his team.

Magnus realizes that he will never win the flyting if he plays by Loki’s rules. He thinks about how he is a healer, and how he is not meant to cut people down to size. He begins to tell the crowd about his team’s accomplishments. Individually, he sings the praises of each member of his team, ignoring Loki’s protests that he does not understand how a flyting works.
