'Reason Cansino', 'With the Witch', 'In the Witch's House' Summary

Reason and her mother Sarafina have been living on the run in Australia, hiding from Reason's grandmother Esmeralda. Sarafina has told Reason that Esmeralda believes in magic and is very dangerous. When Sarafina goes mad and tries to kill herself, Reason is sent to live with Esmeralda. Reason is terrified and suspicious of her grandmother, and when she gets the opportunity to escape she takes it. She leaves by the back door, but finds herself in New York. Reason now knows that magic is real, but she still believes her grandmother is evil. Reason soon finds herself being manipulated by her grandfather Jason Blake, who wants to steal her magic.
