Book 2, Chapter 7 Summary

The elf Haldir guides the Company to Caras Galadhon, where Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel live. Once they enter the city, they climb up to the hall of Celeborn and Galadriel, where each member of the Fellowship is welcomed warmly. However, seeing their numbers, the two elves mention that they thought there were nine members of the Fellowship. Reluctantly, they report Gandalf's death in Moria and all the elves there are saddened by the news. However, Celeborn is so angered by the news that he speaks harshly about the dwarves and the fact that they dug so deep into the mountain. However, Galadriel gently rebukes her husband for his words, and then speaks to Gimli about Moria in the dwarvish tongue. Hearing her speak beautifully in his own language, Gimli is.....
