Chapter 26 Summary

The Royal Porcupine opens the box, predictably, and begs Joan to join him in detonating the dynamite. Joan declines, recalling an incident in which he attempted to give them both amazing orgasms by shoving his finger in an open Christmas light socket. Instead of doing so, he had actually hidden the wire under the mattress and set it on fire. He eventually convinces Joan to allow him to locate an area free of people and buildings to detonate the dynamite. Joan has learned his real name is Chuck Brewer, and she annoys him by calling him by this name. Following the detonation, the two make love in the debris, and Chuck admits he is in love with Joan.
