Dominika Egorova aka DIVA

Dominika Egorova is a colonel in the SVR. She has just been promoted to the position of chief of the counterintelligence department and has been promised the position of director of the SVR when the novel opens. Dominika is a strong female character who is working as a double agent for the CIA with the hopes of getting rid of the corruption in Russia’s government. She is angry with the way that Putin and his central group of followers are exorbitantly rich while the working class people in Russia are barely able to afford to live. Dominika is a synesthete, which gives her the ability to see people’s emotions and personalities as colored auras around their heads. This ability helps her in her work as a spy because she can detect the intentions and motivations of the people with whom she works.
