Summary

The Prologue is set in Moscow’s Metropol Hotel in September of 2005. Dominika Egorova of the SVR, the Russian intelligence service, had been called upon to use her services as a sparrow, a state-trained courtesan, on an American woman. The woman, named Audrey, had been a screamer and a biter.

The narrator recalls how Dominika had been forced to join the SVR by a manipulative uncle after a rival in ballet school broke Dominika’s foot. During the time Dominika had studied to become an operations officer and then was sent to Sparrow School, Dominika had learned how corrupt Russia really was. Dominika was happy when her uncle offered her a position in another country but made her agree to seduce US Navy Lieutenant Junior Grade Audrey Rowland first. The Russians were interested in Audrey because she specialized in US railgun technology...
