Zoe McCourt

Zoe McCourt is one of the main characters in "Key of Valor" by Nora Roberts. When the story begins, Zoe is sixteen years old. She lives with her mother and three younger siblings in rural West Virginia. Zoe's father had run off with another man's wife when Zoe was twelve. Since that time, Zoe had been expected to help raise the children and to assist her mother in her home beauty salon. Zoe had no real childhood. While she was helping to keep the wolf from the door, her mother chased after the elusive perfect man. Zoe fell in love with the son of a rich man and became pregnant. Zoe became a single mother to Simon while the son of the rich man - James - went on with his life.

The story picks up almost ten years later. Zoe now lives in Pleasant Valley, Pennsylvania...
