Section 14: Chapters 23 & 24 Summary

In Chapter 23, Juniper and Finbar enter the tunnel, leaving Moon in the cave as they continue to the western wing where Juniper sees the dog's collar and realizes why the Gray Knight's eyes are so familiar. They leads Gamal out of the room and into the tunnels, but as Juniper begins to feel uneasy, Moon tells her to run because the dog is coming. Juniper and Finbar drag Gamal along as she realizes that they forgot to reapply the clearwater after rescuing Gamal, and she also realizes that the dog is the Gray Knight's other form. The three climb onto a ledge, but when the dog springs, it tears through Juniper's cloak and scratches her leg before she throws the black egg. As the egg hits the dog, it reverts to the Gray Knight who collapses to the ground and rolls...
