Section 10: Chapter 16 Summary

Finally, Euny begins teaching Juniper about spells and potions. She explains that healing is a special kind of knowing combined with the study of herbs which is the focus of Juniper's final lessons. Euny also teaches her about clearwater, a liquid used to protect a doran from sorcery. Gamal visits several times, and remembering his reluctance to talk about Meroot, Juniper questions him and learns that she still hopes Gamal will take over the kingdom after King Mark dies; yet, Gamal swore his allegiance to King Mark on his last birthday and knows that plotting is against the rule of knights.
