Section 7: Chapters 12 & 13 Summary

In Chapter 12, Angharad teaches Juniper how to make dyes from various herbs, informing her that when she has enough wool, she will learn to weave a doran's cloak which "needs to be carefully made because one day it will be your protection against the magic of sorcerers" (page 86). One day, Angharad orders Juniper to start weaving, instructing her to look inside herself to know which colors to choose. Juniper panics at her lack of knowledge, but Angharad ignores her when she tells her mentor to choose. After dinner, Juniper tries to return to spinning, but Angharad insists she must weave, and she will not allow Juniper to go to bed until she solves it. Finally realizing that this is something she must teach herself, Juniper asks who she is, and answering that she is Juniper, she chooses her colors. The next...
