Chapters 21-25 Summary

Shannon reflects back on the time when she first met Brandy. Brandy helped her deal with the self confidence issues that came with her injury. Shannon found herself occasionally wishing she was still beautiful and could continue her modeling career, but learned she could not even be a hand or foot model. Shannon then thinks of the days right after they left Los Angeles together, how Manus taught them to steal drugs in homes that were for sale. At the same time, Shannon sent a letter to Evie asking for the insurance money, telling her that she had facial reconstruction surgery and was back to being beautiful and that if Evie does not do as instructed, Shannon and Manus will go to the police and claim she shot Shannon.

After Los Angeles, Shannon and her companions moved on to Santa Barbara...
