Summary

Chapter 21

Tris and Tobias have an argument. He says she never talks about her plans which makes her angry considering that she was already mad for not knowing about Tobias’ plan to attack Marcus. Tobias tells Tris that she ought to stay home for once and let other people take the risk. Tris has no intention of doing so.

The group goes to eavesdrop on Kang and Jeanine. Instead of Jeanine, however, they see another member of her executive team approach.

Kang is offended that Jeanine did not attend the meeting in person. Max says he and Jeanine split up their duties.

Max tells Kang that he will not survive without his (and Jeanine’s help). He lays out conditions for the protection of Candor.

Kang is angry but has little choice in the matter. He grabs Max’s shirt. Tris thinks that...
