Summary

In Chapter 17, the Spell Walkers train Emil for battle. Emil grows easily tired. Maribelle tells him not to quit. Meanwhile, Brighton edits clips of Emil. All Emil wants is to figure out how to cure people of their powers. Eventually the Spell Walkers plan a surprise battle between Emil and Orton. They think they can discover Luna's plans through Orton. Emil is nervous for the attack. Brighton goes with him.

In Chapter 18, unprepared to fight Orton, Emil is reminded of his father's funeral. They sneak into the empty Eternal Lerna Footwear warehouse. Orton and the Blood Casters sense their presences. The fight ensues. Iris is wounded. Brighton gets involved. Orton is killed. Emil feels guilty.
