Chained, Hand and Foot; Chapter 18-21 Summary

As the Warden continues to explain about Claudia's mother in Chapter 18. He tells Claudia that the wedding was not arranged, but he was in love with her. Claudia's mother had died during child birth and afterwards the Warden had all pictures of her locked away because he could not bear to look at them. When Claudia asks why he has picked now to tell her of her mother the Warden explains that if her mother had lived the wedding between Claudia and Caspar would be important to her just as it is to him and that Claudia must let nothing put the wedding at risk.
