Chapter 19 Summary

Casto is infuriated that Eve is not charging Jerry with the murder of Pandora. He even threatens to take it over Eve's head. She urges him to do just that, but she absolutely will not charge Jerry until the woman is coherent enough to understand the charges and admit to them. Instead, Eve arranges for Jerry to be admitted to the Midtown Rehabilitation Center for Substance Addiction. At four the next morning, Eve is awakened with a call that Jerry is dead of a presumed overdose. At the Rehab Center, Eve begins the difficult task of sorting out the events. A patient with violent tendencies broke through his restraints and the subsequent chaos had everyone running to assist, including the female officer assigned to guard Jerry's room.
