Chapter 5 Summary

Lieutenant Jake T. Casto of Illegals visits Eve in her office. He is big on looks and charm and wishes to talk about Boomer, their mutual snitch. Cautious by nature, Eve chooses not to reveal all she knows to Casto. She does tell him they recovered a new substance being analyzed by the lab as the possible motive for Boomer's death. Casto makes a pass at Eve, inviting her out to eat, knowing full well that she is due to be married. Handsome Jake tempts Eve ever so slightly.
