Chapter 4 Summary

Eve is awakened in the middle of the night with an audiovisual uplink call from Mavis, who is shaken and white and has what appears to be a smear of blood on her hand. A trace on the call locates Mavis at Leonardo's loft. Roarke is dressing to accompany Eve even before she ends the call. The security camera at Leonardo's is smashed, but Mavis appears to be uninjured. The blood is not hers. It is Pandora's, who is dead. Her face is bashed in with a cane or walking stick that Eve recognizes from her visit to Leonardo's loft only two days before.
