Chapter 3 Summary

Peabody accompanies Eve to Boomer's flophouse to see if any evidence or reason for his murder can be found. Eve has to get through three state-of-the-art locks in order to gain access to his room, which resembles a filthy hovel. The room is dirty, hot because the single window is locked, and food take-out boxes, dirty laundry, sheets, and towels strewn all over. It looks to the two officers as if Boomer was hiding out in the room, as if he were afraid of something. Eve knows he makes a lot more as a snitch than the dirty room requires. Under the filthy mattress, they find a packet of pale blue powder and a sealed disc. Eve believes these are why Boomer died. All they can determine from the disc is that it.....
