Summary

This chapter alternates between the third person literary narration, which describes Miguel’s experiences, and the first person narration by Crispin. Miguel gets on a plane to go to the Isla Dulcinea in hopes of finding Dulcinea. In Crispin’s first person voice, he describes a possible ending to the political drama of the novel, wherein Reverend Martin is arrested, President Estregan and Bansamoro become political allies, and Wigberto Lakandula is still at large.

In the third person narration, Miguel writes in memory of the 1991 explosion of Mount Pinatubo, juxtaposing it with Crispin’s crucifixion. He also recalls that his parents died here as well. The first person narration offers another possibility: Dingdong Changco, the president of PhilFirst Corp. is arrested, President Estregan and Reverend Martin ally themselves, Bansamoro is arrested, and Wigberto Lakandula receives a presidential pardon and runs for Congress to fill...
