Summary

In Chapter 20, Icy looks forward to an upcoming visit from her grandparents. However, when the time for the visit arrives, they don’t come. Icy is mad at both Maizy and then Dr. Conroy the next day when they explain how they thought it would be better if the visit didn’t happen. Icy has additional conflict with the staff when she insists that Wilma exhibits terrible behavior. Later, Icy looks up the dictionary definition of the word “disorder,” and is startled to find that it matches up with how she personally feels inside her head most of the time. She hides the dictionary in a vent in her room. Later, she sees Gordie in the halls, and senses that he has been looking for the dictionary. However, she prevents him from going into her room.
