Chapter 2, Ship Summary

Brian and Roger recover from the tsunami and immediately begin investigating the crevasse where George went over. However, they quickly discover that it is not a crevasse, but the edge of the newly formed iceberg. Roger explains this to Brian as he lowers a flashlight over the edge to search for George. Brian is surprised to discover that George landed on a shelf created on the edge of the iceberg by the tsunami and appears to be alive. Brian is hesitant to attempt a rescue, however, for reasons he cannot explain even to himself.

Harry drives one snowmobile while Pete and Claude follow on the other. Harry is driving slower because he has no idea where the iceberg broke, therefore he does not know if he might come up on the edge so quickly that he cannot stop his snowmobile. As...
