Chapters 26 and 27 Summary

From the sounds of her voice and the dogs, John believes they are at the back of the house. He runs to the back of the house, hoping he can enter without being seen. Inside, half the stairs are gone, and John is forced to jump to the second floor. He checks rooms as he goes, almost falling through the floor in one area, and finally finds Sarah and the dogs huddled in the farthest corner of a room. He helps her stand and tells her to hold on tight. He grabs the dogs and jumps out of the window, holding onto all three of them. Dozer and Abby are okay, and Sarah is sobbing quietly.
