Who is Sandra Uwiringiyimana? Briefly describe her early childhood.

Sandra is a member of the Banyamulenge tribe. She was born in the Congo. She lived most of her childhood in the town of Uvira and described the beautiful region, including a lake and river where she and her siblings often swam, even though they were not supposed to. She attended school and worked at being a good student, though many families did not educate the girls. She was very close to her family and felt she had a happy childhood, though the threat of violence was very real and often forced them to leave their home.
