In 1954, Frank begins attending classes at the Dairy School though he, unlike most of the students, doesn't live in the dorms, followed in the next two years by Franny and then John. The family home is sold though the renovations to the hotel take longer than anticipated, and the family continues to rent their home from the new owners for some time.
