Chapter 3, Sections 14 through 19 Summary

Jeremy goes looking for a woman who might be suitable for his collection. As he is sitting in his car outside a nightclub with a thunderstorm raging, he hears the words, "Something's out there." He doesn't know where it came from or what it is, and he listens to see if it will happen again. Jeremy isn't certain whether it's a threat but says that he isn't afraid, even if it is. He has been to Hell, as he often says, and being in the world of the living is, to him, a temporary state.

Lindsay is on the same floor in the hospital as Hatch but at the opposite end of the corridor. Dr. Nyebern goes into her room, says that he wants to tell her about Hatch, and asks to hold her hand while he does so...
