At Orange County General Hospital, Hatch is taken to the Resuscitation Medicine Project overseen by Dr. Jonas Nyebern. The other members of the resuscitation team are Helga Dorner, a circulating nurse, Gina Delilo, an RN and surgical tech, and Dr. Ken Nakamura and Dr. Kari Dovell. They work together whenever there's a victim who qualifies for the resuscitation procedure. In Hatch's case, the fact that he drowns in very cold water and had few other injuries makes him a prime candidate, better than the typical victim who has suffered some trauma. There is a pause in the action as Dr. Nyebern debates whether Hatch is likely to be resuscitated with no ill effects, having been clinically dead for almost an hour.
