Summary

Rena and Lorne are still working together, and the professor has taken to assigning readings to his new friend. He calls almost nightly around midnight, after Mack is asleep, when the house is quiet. Tonight, he asks Rena what she thinks of Silent Spring, but she has not read her latest assignment yet. Instead of sharing her opinions, she listens to Lorne talk about the public forum on fracking in Washington County, New York. The governor has temporarily suspended any permits for natural gas drilling, and Lorne is thrilled. He invites Rena to a rally on a SUNY campus upstate next month.

Meanwhile, Mack lies awake listening to her partner talk on the phone. She has noticed Rena’s cell phone constantly ringing, and she worries that Rena is getting restless in their relationship. Wrapping herself in an old flannel bathrobe, she heads...
