Summary

This section starts with a white page with an uneaten red apple, without a page number. The scene then opens to Michelle standing in front of the class to give her LDI. Michelle announces that she is going to teach the class about her family’s favorite dish - the Waldorf salad. She explains the ingredients which include mayonnaise, at which point Raina involuntarily shouts “EW!!!” (141). Mr. Abrams asks to speak to Raina outside. He tells her everyone has different likes and dislikes, and to be respectful of others. Raina goes back to her desk and thinks this means she needs to try Michelle’s sample of salad. She tries it and does not like it, but looks around the class seeing others enjoy it, and clap for Michelle. That day on the bus her friends ask her what is wrong with her...
